LONDON-St Modwen Properties will be starting its £30 million ($42 million) regeneration of Edmonton Green shopping centre this Summer to provide one of the largest suburban shopping centres in London. St Modwen will be extended the north London scheme by 350,000 sf bringing its total to 600,000 sf.

The first phase involves relocating the existing market so that larger shop units can be installed which will also improve pedestrian flow. The new market will provide around 50 stalls and the work will take around six months. The bulk of multiple retail activity takes place on the North Mall where Boots, Tesco and Kwiksave are located which is why St Modwen has tied up a deal with a 75,000 sf foodstore, hotly tipped to be Wal-Mart’s Asda, and is relocating the local leisure operator onto the South Mall, where the company also aims to pull in a number of food operators.
