As head of Mendik & Co., Mendik built a reputation for high-end asset repositioning. Included in the list of office properties his firm renovated were 866 UN Plaza and GE Building.

Mendik, long-time leader of the Real Estate Board of New York, sold his company for more than $650 million to Vornado Realty Trust in 1997. At the time of the sale, the company boasted a portfolio hovering around four million sf. He took a short-lived senior-level post at the REIT before leaving to form another independent firm, BHM Co. Funeral services are scheduled for tomorrow at Temple Emanu-El on Fifth Ave.
