The recognition included:
* Partner of the Year 2000 - The General Motors Corporation. The company'sinvestments in Michigan, which exceed $1 billion in 2000, will retain morethan 28.000 jobs in the Lansing region.
* Largest Job Creation and Investment by a non-Manufacturing Company - Target Corp.'s new distribution center in Charleston Township will create up to 900 jobs.
* Largest Job Creation and Investment by a Manufacturing Company - Ford Motor Co. 's rehabilitation and expansion of the Rouge Center in Dearborn will retain at least 2,900 jobs and create up to 3,800 jobs.
* Outstanding Commitment and Dedication to Economic Development – Susan Lackey, president, Washtenaw Development Council; and Barry Broome, chief executive officer and executive director, Southwest Michigan First!
The Business Success Celebration was held at Michigan's Capitol Rotunda to honor businesses and business leaders for their part in helping Michigan garner Site Selection magazine's Governor's Cup for the fourth year in a row as the national leader for new plants and expansions.
