The school department's administrative offices, which is now leasing space from the Boys & Girls Club and the Council On Aging and the Office of Human Services, which leases space from Tufts University, as well as the departments now in the annex would move to another city-owned building at 350 Medford Street, which is currently being used for storage. Almost all city services would then be right near each other.
The Medford Street building was slated to become a community center and had received a five million dollar bond to renovate the building. That money will be used to create a new city hall annex there. The move would reportedly save the city $5.4 million over two decades.
