Gordon, a Bloomfield Hills resident, is an EMU alumnus. He replaces Donna Milhouse, of Detroit, who resigned in Feb. 2000 after being appointed judge for the 36th District Court.

Gordon, 45, earned his bachelor's of business administration degree from Eastern in 1980. He was named 1998 Alumni Entrepreneur of the year by the Future Business Owners Club at EMU's College of Business.

Gordon joins another local real estate professional on the board. Regent Robert DeMattia has served since 1991. During his tenure on the board he has served as the chair of the board and is the current chair of the finance committee. DeMattia, of Plymouth, is president and chief executive officer of The DeMattia Group, which specializes in commercial and industrial development projects. His term expires Dec. 31, 2002.

The board of regents is responsible for enacting, amending and repealing rules and bylaws for the conduct of the Board's business and for the government of the institution. The college is located in Ypsilanti, MI.
