Altair Building HQ in Troy Business Park

TROY, MI-A new world headquarters will cost $21 million. Along with financing from National City Bank, the company is getting an $8.4 million tax break to stay in this suburb of Detroit.

TROY, MI-Altair Engineering Inc. is moving its world headquarters into the Big BeaverBusiness Park here, with help from a state tax break. The firm, which provides engineering consultant services to clients such as the Big Three and most Fortune 500 companies, is paying $21 million to build a three story, 133,000-sf building at the former site of the Troy Airport.

Liberty Property Trust, a local REIT, bought the land after the airport closed. Altair bought the land for its new headquarters with financing from National City Bank.

“We’re currently located at Maplelawn Drive in Troy, and we’re just over capacity due to the growth of the company,” says Michael Kidder, director of marketing for Altair.
