Several other hospitals, including University Hospital, plan to move to Fitzsimons, which is being transformed into a health, biotechnology and research park.
''For over a year, we have been engaged in a detailed feasibility study to determine the best location for the Children's Hospital's future,'' according to a Children's Hospital statement. ''The Children's board of director has not made a decision about its future location. This land option (from the regents, which controls the property at Fitzsimons) is critical to our ability to complete our location planning process. In order to properly compare site alternatives we must know which piece of land at Fitzsimons is available to us.''
The option details the 37 acres Fitzsimons has available.
Children's Hospital has two years to exercise its option on the land.
''We are still developing information about the alternatives and we have much work to do before we can arrive at a decision,'' the hospital says.
