SSR Buys GE Capital Investments, Creating $2-Bil Business Unit

WHITE PLAINS-SSR Realty Advisors has significantly bolstered its Core Separate Accounts real estate management business with the acquisition of the assets of GE Capital Investment Advisors of Boston.

WHITE PLAINS-SSR Realty Advisors, in a move that expands its Core Separate Accounts real estate management business to approximately $2 billion, has acquired the assets of GE Capital Investment Advisors of Boston for an undisclosed amount. Thomas Lydon, president and CEO of SSR, says that prior to the deal, SSR’s Core Separate Accounts Division amounted to $500 million in assets under management.

Lydon notes that the GE Capital Investment Advisors business now brings an additional $1.7 billion in assets under management. Lydon says that GE Capital Investment Advisors business, which basically handled the assets of six large corporate pension fund accounts, was attractive to SSR.

“We had wanted for the past two to three years to increase our Core Separate Accounts side of our business.” Lydon says. SSR Realty is a subsidiary of MetLife and State Street Research & Management Co. GE Capital Investment Advisors is a pension fund real estate management business affiliated with GE Capital Real Estate, which is headquartered in Stamford, CT.
