The project in central Oceanside would include a 200-room hotel and golf course on 465 acres of city-owned property. Manchester submitted the draft master plan and architectural renderings to the city planning department last week. They depict a park-like setting for the hotel, an 18-hole golf course, a possible nine-hole executive golf course and surrounding restaurants, retail and meeting rooms.
The City Council is scheduled to view the renderings and plans at its meeting Wednesday. Newport Beach-based architect Gregory Coghill used early San Diego architecture, including structures at Balboa Park, in coming up with the concept for the resort.
Manchester will now focus on completing draft environmental documents for the project, a process that will take at least six months. Manchester Resort officials say construction won't likely start until 2003.
