The site borders this town and Reverse and still needs zoning change approval from Revere city council, but the developers are reportedly confident that that approval will be forthcoming. If the Revere approvals are achieved, a community task force representing both Malden and Revere, as well as state highway officials, will be appointed to help develop the master plan. Construction on the first phase of the project could start this summer.
Roseland plans to initially build 760 apartment units on the site and then, depending on the master that is developed, could then build up to 2,400 housing units, a hotel and 120,000 sf of retail space. Roseland currently has projects underway in this area in Hingham, Quincy and on Pier One on the waterfront in East Boston on a site owned by the Massachusetts Port Authority.
