Council Wants to Take Land for Park

TROY, MI-The council is offering $1 million for a former condominium parcel, and will condemn the land if necessary. Matthew's Farms LLC's plans for 100 condominiums have failed to materialize after a year.

TROY, MI-The city council here has voted unanimously to offer slightly more than $1 million to Matthew’s Farms LLC in return for a 15.38-acre parcel on the south side of Maple Road between John R. and Dequindre roads. The council wants to make the parcel a park, consistent with the city master plan.

John Pavone of the company says he plans are to build 100 condominiums on the land. The parcel continued to remain vacant for more than a year. The council also agreed 6-1 to begin condemnation proceedings if Pavone does not sell theland.
