The former Taystee facility is a 40,800 sf city-owned site with six buildings totaling 134,000 sf on it at West 126th St. between Amsterdam and Morningside Avenues. A spokesperson for the EDC tells GlobeSt.com Citarella will likely demolish most of the buildings on the site and plans to renovate the remaining building(s) and expand its operations there.

Citarella will establish its corporate offices there, moving from its current 75th Street location. The site will also house food preparation areas for specialty bakery, pasta and salad items, a training facility and expansion of warehouse and storage facilities. There will also be 5,000 sf of retail space. The renovations will take about eight months to complete.

Also in the food business, the city's Staten Island minor league baseball stadium in the St. George section of the borough is seeking a restaurateur. The EDC is seeking a 10-year lease with an option for two five-year renewals. The space consists of a first and second floor, as well as a basement. The ballpark for the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees and member of the New York-Pennsylvania League will open later this month.

The Staten Island Yankees will host 38 home games from June through early September, and the stadium will also be used as a concert venue and will host other sporting events. The EDC indicates the developer/operator of the space will benefit not only from stadium activity, but also from the EDC's construction of a waterfront promenade, waterfront plaza and new walkway to connect Richmond Terrace to the waterfront.

EDC officials also point out the proximity of Borough Hall, the post office and the Richmond County Courthouse. They also report approximately 1 million tourists and 11 million commuters travel between the St. George Ferry terminal and the Whitehall Ferry Terminal in Manhattan.

On Wednesday, June 20 there will be a site visit and informational meeting at 10 a.m. Responses to the RFPs are due by Monday, July 16. To RSVP to the meeting and to obtain a copy of the RFP, call 212-312-3969 or email [email protected] with SGR-0501 in the subject line.
