Steve Danon and Donna Frye are the front-runners to fill for the seat in City Council District Six. Danon finished first in the April primary, edging Frye by a total of 125 votes. Some 19,000 ballots were cast in the April 17 primary. Eight other ballot candidates and one write-in also are vying for the seat.
Danon is chief of staff to county Supervisor Ron Roberts. He is on leave during the campaign. Frye co-owns a surf shop in Bay Park. The winner will face another campaign to retain the seat next March.
District 6 includes Clairemont, Mission Valley, Serra Mesa, Bay Park and portions of Linda Vista, Pacific Beach and Kearny Mesa.
