Marks, who has a background in affordable housing, comes from the law firm of Michael Daniel in Dallas. At McIver, Marks is directing development and consulting activities, oversees training and staff development as well as acting as in-house legal counsel.
Marks is a member of the board of directors of the Austin Tenants Council and previously had been a member of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Section 8 Task Force, assembled to provide advice and recommendations to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
The Austin-based McIver firm specializes in assisting nonprofit organizations with the development of affordable housing for elderly and low-income families. Its services include demographic and feasibility analysis, site selection and negotiation, applications for financing, identification and selection of development team members, development of oversight and coordination, financing, construction monitoring and review of administrative and management functions. The firm also is a correspondent for San Francisco-based TRI Capital Corp., which provides financing services to clients through HUD's Mortgage Insurance Programs.
McIver also owns DMA Development Company LLC, which is a developer of affordable apartment communities. It has 40-unit projects in Gonzales, 61 miles south of Austin, and Luling, 43 miles south of the state capital.
