The two year imitative approved by the Port Commission brings together experts in the field of maritime operations and financing, commercial real estate development, engineering, and transportation logistics marketing focused on generating new private sector investment in the Sacramento port.
The Commission and the port management believe the initiative will spur economic development by increasing cargo shipments and maritime related businesses, according to Sacramento Port Commission Chairman, Larry McConnell.
Senior Advisor at Grubb & Ellis, Herb Grabell calls the initiative the "dawning of a new era for the Port of Sacramento." Officials expect to develop a model for improving the port business that can be used by other ports in the future.
