Block E Developers Hire Aesthetic Specialists

MINNEAPOLIS-Lighting specialists Francis Krahe II and theme-designer Patrick McBride will work on the warehouse district multi-use project with Chicago-based developer McCaffery Interests and architect Antunovich Associates.

MINNEAPOLIS-The developer of Block E in Downtown has hired two well-known designers to design and construct the light and sound elements of the project. FrancisKrahe II, a well-known architectural lighting designer, and Patrick McBride, a theme-environment designer, will work with the developer, Chicago-based McCaffery Interests, and its architect, Antunovich Associates.

The goal is to “create an electrifying urban retail environment for the Minnesota community and the tenants of Block E,” says Dan McCaffery, president of McCaffery Interests. Expected to open in the fall of 2002, the multi-use project near the warehouse district in downtown Minneapolis will feature 210,000 sf of retail, restaurant andentertainment space, a 250-room Renaissance hotel by Marriott, and a 82,000-sf, 17-screeen, 4,500-seat Crown Theaters complex.
