The company, based in San Diego, is expanding operations throughout the western and southeastern US. It has 257 stores in 11 states, stretching from Washington to Louisiana. The game plan is to open 60 more stores this year as it heads east and fills in spots in the western US. The company has 41 stores in Texas as well as a 300,000-sf distribution center in Lewisville, north of Dallas.
Factory 2-U specializes in branded casual apparel for the family and house wares. It says it tries to price 20% to 50% lower than national discount chains.
The Weitzman Group is representing Factory 2-U as it expands in Texas. Steve Greenberg, Steve Lieberman and Michelle Caplan, all with Weitzman's commercial retail division, have handled the negotiations. Factory 2-U is leasing the space from HPRI-Waco Center LP. Lake Air Court Shopping Center is located at 1428 Wooded Acres in southwest Waco.
