LONDON-The most expensive new home in Britain has just been sold for £70 million ($97.5 million). The 30-bedroom mansion in Windlesham, Surrey is not yet complete but that has not stopped the purchaser, strongly tipped to be Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum, the race horse-owning Crown Prince of Dubai, from completing the deal.

The property, known as Updown Court, is set in 90 acres with an ornamental lake and tropical gardens. There are stables that, according to one builder working on the site, ‘are good enough for people to live in,’ tennis courts with underground heating, a marble-lined shooting gallery and two bowling alleys.

Designed by Arizona-based architect, John B Scholz, Updown Court was originally earmarked as the new residence of Hollywood stars Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, although their interest is thought to have waned.
