23,650 SF of Janus Space Comes Off Sublease Market

AUSTIN-Janus' closed call center has a new tenant for 23,650 sf at Riata's Building 7 in the northwest submarket, which is responsible for 65% of the 2.85 million sf on the sublease market. Evoke will be expanding and relocating its Austin development team.

AUSTIN-Evoke Software Inc. is doing its part to eat up the tons of open sublease space in the city’s northwest submarket. Evoke, based in San Francisco, has taken 23,650 sf in a building in the Riata Corporate Park, just off Technology Boulevard. That’s almost twice as much space as it had in a building at 9009 Mountain Ridge, near the intersection of Capital of Texas Highway and Jollyville Road.

Most of the software company’s development team–about 40 engineers–works in Austin, Rick Cortese, Evoke’s president, tells GlobeSt.com. It has a smaller development site in Boulder, CO. “We’ve been gradually expanding over the course of the past 12 months,” Cortese says. “The Austin engineering and the help desk for customer support have outgrown their existing facility so we’re moving to bigger space.”

Cortese says the staffing growth is moving apace with the demand for its product, software that companies use to profile their customers. Founded in 1996, Evoke has been in Austin for about 4-1/2 years, Cortese says. It had rounded up $25 million in fifth-round funding in late 2000.
