Group Eyes 10 Acres for Memorial Expansion

ESCONDIDO, CA-Preservationists hope to convince the state to expand the San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park by acquiring nearby school district property.

ESCONDIDO, CA-The San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteer Association is trying to mobilize support to expand the state historic park by 10 acres.

The San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteer Association hopes to add 10 acres to the 50-acre site along state Route 78 near the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

The association, which administers the battleground, hopes to enlist the help of the state Parks and Recreation Department in buying the land from the San Pasqual Union School District. The district is moving the school located on the site and its 400 student to a larger location this fall.
