Ramsgate Restoration Complete

LONDON-York Street, a once derelict thoroughfare in the heart of Ramsgate, Kent has undergone a complete refurbishment.

LONDON-York Street, a once derelict thoroughfare in the heart of Ramsgate, Kent has undergone a £1.8 million ($2.5 million) refurbishment. The mixed use scheme forms part of the Ramsgate Renaissance project, designed to encourage trade and residential occupancy back to the historic harbour area of the town.

The restoration was undertaken by a partnership involving Thanet District Council, North British Housing and the South East England Developent Agency. Additional funding was provided by Tesco, English partnerships, English heritage and the European Regional Fund.As well as renovating old properties, 20 new apartments have been built and a new public square where the Tourist Information Centre has relocated to as links are improved between the harbour area and town centre.
