The Rockville site is located at the intersection of Rt. 355 and Hungerford Drive, adjacent to theintersection of North Washington Street and Rockville Pike. The property includes a 53,000-sf building that will be torn down to make way for a new 54,000-sf full-service grocery store.

"Securing a lease for this location from a strong, local grocer like Giant is a great coup not just for JBGR, but for the surrounding community," says JBGR president Jim Garibaldi. "Although Giant currently operates a small store in this market, the opening of this new, much larger store certainly will change the complexion of the neighborhood."

The other two new tenants secured by JBGR for former Hechinger sites include MetroMedia Fiber Network, which leased the Tysons Corner Hechinger, and Giant Foods, which leased the Alexandria Commons store. Giant has 183 stores serving the Baltimore/Washington market and the Delaware Valley regions of New Jersey and Delaware.

JBGR, based in Bethesda, MD, specializes in leasing, developing, building and managing retail properties across the Mid-Atlantic. It was founded in 1995 as a joint venture between Rosenfeld Realty Company and The JBG Companies. It now holds 18 shopping centers and nine freestanding store sites in its portfolio.
