Only 6% thought it was a "very bad idea," according to the survey performed by DecisionResources Ltd. of Minneapolis.

"The survey shows residents of the Northstar Corridor are unhappy with congestion as it gets worse," says Betsy Wergin, chair of the Northstar Corridor Development Authority. "They feel a combination of commuter rail and highways is the right answer to address the transportation needs of the area."

The survey says about 23% of the respondents would use the rail to commute to work. The Northstar Corridor, an 80-mile stretch along highways 10 and 47 from St. Cloud to Minneapolis, is the fastest growing area in Minnesota.
