POMPANO BEACH, FL-Wal-Mart Stores East Inc. is ready to pull building permits on Atlantic Commercial Center, now that modifications to the site’s plat have been approved.

The Bentonville, AR-based retailer received authorization last year to build a new superstore as part of 270,000 sf of retail space on a portion of the old-Pompano Beach Racing Track at the southeast corner of Powerline Road and Atlantic Boulevard, according to Broward County records.

Besides the superstore, plans for the 37-acre center also include the proposed development of Wendy’s and Pollo Tropical fast-food franchises, a bank branch and a convenience store.
