AUSTIN-Valence Technology Inc., a maker of rechargeable batteries for electronic devices, is shifting a significant part of its operations to Austin in its first US move outside its Henderson, NV base.

Coming to Austin will be marketing, operations, systems engineering and finance functions. Henderson gets to keep research and development.

Valence, whose new CEO is a former Dell Computer Corp. executive, has not chosen office space in Austin, but wants to be up and running by Aug. 1, Stephanie Willerton, a company contact, tells GlobeSt.com. “We’re still looking,” she says. She was unable to say how much space Valence is seeking nor whom it is working with in the search.
