WASHINGTON, DC-CarrAmerican Urban Development will serve as project manager for the relocation of the Freedom Forum/Newseum from its present location in Arlington, VA to a building at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 6th St., NW. The project features residential, office and museum exhibit space, including a significant expansion for the Newseum, as well as an update of its content.
The Newseum is an interactive museum of news. The move will put the facility in the middle of the tourist district, across the street from the National Gallery of Art and the National Mall.
“CarrAmerica was selected after a national search. Their proven record in DC and their collegial style will complement the work that has already begun with our architects and our staff,” says Freedom Forum chairman and CEO Charles L. Overby. “We are already well under way developing content and design options and have nearly 75 people on staff at the Freedom Forum and Newseum hard at work on the project.”
