Instead, some commissioners feel the same objective study could be done by the county's planning staff. Catherine Hanson, a longtime commercial/residential broker in the area and the commission's chair, pushed for the ULI study.

She couldn't be reached at GlobeSt.com's publication deadline but county staffers who have worked with her tell GlobeSt.com Hanson is disappointed with the commission's decision."She feels it's a step backward," the staffers say.

The current five-member Lake County commission is generally perceived as being pro-development. There are only 210,528 residents in the entire county, according to last U.S. Census.
