Tom Snider of BT Commercial represented Handspring in the sublease of the property from Starlight Networks, a provider of networking server software products. David Fitch of Cushman and Wakefield represented Starlight in the transaction.
The office space is located in a flex building at 205 Ravendale Drive in Mountain View; one of two buildings in the 80,000 SF Ravendale at Central project. Handspring signed a two-year sublease at an undisclosed price. Sources say that rents in the buildings range from $42-54 per sf annually.
Starlight Networks was recently purchased by PictureTel Corporation, a Florida-based company, and will consolidate operations with the parent company.
Tom Snider of BT Commercial tells GlobeSt.com that Handspring was interested in the deal mainly because it was so close to their main office and their immediate needs.
"Handspring leased a large campus in Sunnyvale that won't be ready until next year," says Snider. "The sublease is basically a Band-Aid to hold them over until they can move into the new space."
