The HQ closed last year and is being redeveloped into a therapy center.
Lisa Cargill, store manager at the Orion site, says there was a strong need for a home improvement retailer in the area.
Both stores donated money to the local communities. The Orion store gave $1,500 to the Boys and Girls Club of Orion and Oxford. The Troy store donated $1,500 to the Troy Youth Assistance program and $10,000 to the United Way of Oakland County.
Each store is approximately 120,000 sf.
The company bills itself as the world's largest home improvement retailer with fiscal 1999 sales of $38.4 billion.
