Detroit Brush Park Plan Reviewed in Hearing

DETROIT-Multifamily housing developments strike a nerve with local residents, who want homes and historic sites to remain in the area bounded by Mack Avenue, Fisher Freeway Service Drive, Beaubien Avenue and Woodward Avenue.

DETROIT-Crosswinds Communities has asked to modify the Brush Park development plan, last changed in 1996, to increase the density of Woodward Place by constructing several garden-style apartments within existing historic residential sections of Brush Park. The Brush Park development plan was discussed at a public hearing recentlyheld by the Detroit planning commission.

The development area is bounded by Mack Avenue, the Fisher Freeway Service Drive, Beaubien Avenue and Woodward Avenue.

The project already has multifamily density. New developments include BrushPark Manor Paradise Valley, a 113-unit senior apartment facility opening in September; Hospice of Michigan; Winder St. Bed and Breakfast; and Woodward Place, a 373-unit new townhouse development.
