Sawmill Road Property LLC has named the brokerage firm its exclusive leasing agent for Sawmill Farms at 33 Turner Rd. in Danbury. The Sawmill Farms property consists of 92,000 sf of research and development space that most recently was the headquarters of Microcast Inc., a broadcaster of streaming video over the Internet, according to officials with Insignia/ESG. The complex was originally constructed as the US headquarters and research and development facility for Novo Nordisk Bioindustrials Inc.

The property, designed by architect Richard Foster and constructed in 1986, features a "clock tower" facade and has high-tech amenities including "Category 5 and 6 wiring" throughout the building. Insignia's Steven Greenbush and Michael Siegel are acting as leasing agents for the property. Sawmill Farms, located on 115 acres near the Connecticut/New York border, has a full build-out potential of more than 750,000 sf.

Across the state line in Westchester County, Insignia/ESG, in partnership with Goldschmidt & Associates of Scarsdale, is marketing the former Tops Appliance City site. Located at 10A Saw Mill River Road, the 63,973 sf store recently became available upon the recent closure of the Tops store.

William J. Cuddy of Insignia/ESG and Eric S. Goldschmidt of Goldschmidt & Associates are collaborating on the disposition of the property that is situated nearby Sam's Warehouse Club, two National Amusement theaters and a proposed Home Depot location.

The former Tops retail outlet, located on six acres, is being marketed to retailers as well as office users. Insignia officials note that although the property is perhaps best known as a retail location, ceiling heights of 30 feet combined with heavy floor loads and other amenities make the location suitable for research and development, telecommunications or distribution users.
