Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. A spokesperson for Oki said no immediate changes to the newly acquired Meriwood Golf Course and Vicwood Golf Links, or their operations, are anticipated. The new owners plan to retain services of Golf Resources Northwest, Inc., which manages the facilities.

Developed by the Vicwood Meridian Partnership, the courses are part of a 1,153-acre master-planned golf course community. When completed, the development also will encompass various residential neighborhoods, two city parks, schools and a commercial/industrial business center.

Meriwood Golf Course, designed by Bill Overdorf, opened in 1995. The championship layout is considered among the toughest in the state, with its long routing (stretching to 7,170 yards from the tips), rolling terrain and abundant hazards. It also houses cascading waterfalls, gravity-fed ponds, native wetlands, dense forests and tiered greens.

Vicwood Golf Links, completed in 1999, reflects Scottish accents with Northwest vistas of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound. The course architect, Peter L.H. Thompson, also designed nearby Indian Summer Golf & Country Club, a highly-ranked private course that became part of Oki's portfolio in 1997.

With the addition of Vicwood and Meriwood, Oki's golf portfolio now includes a half-dozen facilities in western Washington. Along with Indian Summer Golf & Country Club, the properties include two daily fee courses, Echo Falls Country Club in Snohomish and The Golf Club at Newcastle in Newcastle, and a private venue, The Plateau Club in Sammamish.
