Denver Firm Designs Korean Airport Terminal

DENVER-Fentress Bradburn Architects designs South Korea's $1.1-billion terminal at Incheon International Airport. The airport is expected to serve 27 million passengers this year and 100 million passengers annually by 2020.

DENVER-Fentress Bradburn Architects designed the recently-opened $1.1-billion, 6-million-sf, arc-shaped terminal at the offshore Incheon International Airport in the Winged City, South Korea. Fentress Bradburn also designed the terminal at the Denver International Airport with its roof that takes its design cues from the Rocky Mountains.

The Incheon terminal has 46 gates and is South Korea’s largest building. Incheon operates two parallel runways and expects to serve 27 million passengers this year and 100 million passengers annually by 2020. It took nine years and $5 billion to build it.

The terminal is known as the “Gateway to Asia,” says Curt Fentress, principal of design at his namesake firm.
