BREMERTON-Four groups have submitted competing project proposals to the Kitsap Public Facilities District this week in an effort to secure state funds for their building plans.

The facilities district aims to greenlight a project in order to cash in on a 33-cent sales tax rebate on every $1,000 the state collects. This rebate initiative requires the district to come up with a $10 million project, provide at least $3.33 million in local matching funds and break ground by Jan. 1, 2003.

Throwing their hats into the ring this week were the City of Bremerton, the Kitsap County Parks and Recreation Department, McCormick Land Co. and the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce.
