Bothell already altered its master plan last year to allow for auto dealers in several areas already zoned for community business. The City Council is poised this week to adopt an ordinance that will outline rules for dealers to set up shop there.

City researchers have deemed car sales as a way to jumpstart its tax revenues collection. As a result, planners have earmarked four areas where future auto dealers can locate. Currently, Bothell is home to one new-car auto dealer, Brook's Biddle Chevrolet.

But after research, the city reported one dealer was not quite enough to meet the demands of the 30,000 people living in Bothell. As a result, planners have selected cars as one of the goods people can't get easily in Bothell.

A couple of car dealers in Kirkland and Bellevue reportedly have talked to city officials about locating in the sites expected to be earmarked for auto dealers.
