The Boca Raton company's Clean Earth Inc. environmental services division is now reporting about $175 million in backlog contracts that are contributing to about $125 million in 2001 revenue, Frank Barbella, Clean Earth's president, says in a prepared statement. "Our revenue forecast for this year is virtually locked up with these latest contracts," Barbella says.
That is good news for the parent company as it continues to restructure itself by selling certain equipment and real estate assets. The parent company last reported a net loss of about $5 million, or 16 cents a share, on net sales of $38.6 million for the first quarter ended March 31 this year, compared with a net loss of $669,603, or two cents a share, on net sales of $30.4 million for the same period in 2000.
Of the new contracts, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection awarded the Clean Earth subsidiary, Barbella Environmental Technology Inc., a $57.5 million contract to close and remediate the Pennsylvania Avenue Landfill Project in Brooklyn.
