The county's total labor force in June was estimated at 179,900, with just over 10,000 county residents seeking jobs during the month, up from 7,700 in June last year.

Statewide, the unemployment rate rose from 5.4% in May to 5.7% in June, 60 points higher than June 2000. In Oregon, the rate went from 5.1% in May to 5.4% in June, 40 points higher than June 2000.

Both states are above the national average, which stood at 4.5% at the end of June, 10 points higher than May and 30 points higher than June 2000.
