Todd Mitchell, president of 1870 Strand Corp., says he has been impressed with Wyndham's tenure thus far. "Our relationship with Wyndham affords our hotels numerous advantages," he says, "including access to an advanced reservation system, national marketing and advertising programs and purchasing savings."

The hotels get a combination of business, meeting and leisure patronage. Major business draws, says Wagoner, is the 14,713 sf of meeting space at Hotel Galvez and 17,000 sf of meeting space and a 7,946-sf ballroom at the Tremont House.

Fred J. Kleisner, Wyndham's chairman and CEO, says the Dallas-based hotelier intends to intensify its focus on securing more franchise and management pacts in its bid to become a leading branded hotel operating company. But, he emphasizes, that focus won't divert Wyndham's attention from its existing management portfolio.
