Marriott Suites to Replace Ohio House

CHICAGO-The Washington, DC-based hotel chain adds 265 rooms to the River North hotel market according to a proposal headed to the city council. Four lenders have expressed interest in financing the project.

CHICAGO-A 265-room Marriott Suites hotel will be built at the northwest corner of Ohio and LaSalle streets in the River North area, replacing the Ohio House motel. Plans have been approved by the Chicago plan commission and now go to the city council, where approval is expected.

In addition to 265 hotel rooms, SSH Ventures LLC plans to provide off-street parking for 84 cars. The suites would be Marriott’s third property in the River North-Michigan Avenue area, as a full-service Marriott and Courtyard are located east of State St.

SSH Ventures LLC is owned by Chicago attorney Herb Stride, longtime owner of the Ohio House property. Cost and other details are not available, he says, until financing is arranged.
