However, because the automaker decided against relocating its e-commerce division from its former headquarters at the GM Tech Plant on Van Dyke Avenue in Warren, MI, the company decided to eliminate the three-story office tower and one of the two levels of underground parking. The company instead is adding a single level of above-ground parking to the seven-story parking garage and an increased retail area.

The lower two levels of parking are to be fronted by retail space on the south side of the building, along a future walkway along the Detroit River.

The company recently received approval to modify the plan from the Detroitplanning commission.
