Biopure sublet the space from Cendant Corp., which was represented by Steve Purpura of Trammell Crow. Cushman & Wakefield senior directors Mark Winters and Mark Roth as well as Jonathan Varholak and David Townsend represented Biopure. According to Winters, Cendant's Internet engineering group used to occupy this space before it fell victim to the high-tech bust.

That tech crash has been felt particularly hard in this area's office market, which, until recently, was laden with high-techs and dot-coms. Torto Wheaton Research's most recent numbers put the vacancy rate here at 9.6%. A year ago the vacancy rate here was 3%. Many tenants have been adopting a wait-and-see attitude, but Winters tells GlobeSt.com that "there are a number of tenants out looking."
