EDINBURGH-Edinburgh City Council has granted planning permission today for a £60 million ($85 million) mixed use regeneration project at Lochrin Basin in Fountainbridge. The scheme will complete the Edinburgh end of the Millennium link, the £78 million ($110 million) restoration of the Forth & Clyde and Union canals.

The development, undertaken by Edinburgh Quay, a joint venture between Miller Developments and British Waterways, will create over 650 new jobs as part of a building programme to deliver waterfront retail, restaurant, residential and office uses. The first phase is for 61 apartments, 119,214 sf of offices and 50,452 sf of restaurants and shops.
