The first store would be built near a proposed theater, on 15 acres south of Interstate 5 and north of Quinault Drive. The second site is near College Street and Yelm Highway. Size and ownership information was not immediately available.

The nearest existing Wal-Mart locations are in Chehalis, Shelton and Puyallup. The Lacey stores are part of Wal-Mart's push into Western Washington. The retailer plans to add about a dozen stores in Western Washington over the next couple of years.
