SAUSALITO, CA-The Bay Area Discovery Museum has halted its $18 million project due to litigation filed by Sausalito against the National Park Service. The 12,000 SF expansion of the museum, which is included in the overall Fort Baker plan under the National Park Service, was expected to begin this week.

A source at the museum tells GlobeSt.com is against the National Park Service and essentially has nothing to do with Discovery Bay. “Sausalito has objected to the park project and has motioned for injunctions against anything being built in Fort Baker,” says the source.

Museum officials sent a letter to the Sausalito City Council last week demanding a statement of the city’s intent to halt the museum’s expansion project by continuing with litigation against the Park service. The letter stresses the upcoming groundbreaking on the project and urgency in knowing the status of the lawsuit.
