DENVER-Locally based Miller Weingarten Realty began construction on the Lowry Town Center, a milestone in the redevelopment of the former Air Force Base. The center is being built on 11 acres east of Quebec Street between First and Fourth avenues.

The project includes 118,000 sf of retail space, a new “main street” and 14,000 sf of second-story office space. The development also includes a public plaza for community gatherings.

It will be anchored by a 56,400-sf Albertson’s grocery store. The grocer will be located in the heart of project, rather than along busy Quebec Street to improve aesthetics and better serve the neighborhood being built around the center.
