After 35 years in Kearny Mesa, KNSD-TV will relocate this fall to 225 Broadway, the former Home Savings Tower, adjacent to Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp district. The station will occupy 26,000 square feet of usable space. Plans include creating a street-side studio and newsroom with windows facing the Horton Plaza Shopping Center and Broadway.

The design of the facility will be similar to that of NBC's TODAY Show in New York City's Rockefeller Center, and like the TODAY Show, NBC 7/39 will capture the outdoor flavor and interaction with the surrounding area. Over 14 million visitors pass through the Horton Plaza vicinity each year.

Sentre Partners, Inc., a local real estate services and investments company, manages and leases the 225 Broadway building.

Mike Harrison will serve as project manager for Johnson & Jennings, assisted by Butch Miller and Vic Moss as on-site superintendents. Rock Architects, located in Santa Monica, is the architect for the ground-floor studio and newsroom space. Jossy+Carrier Design Group of San Diego is the space planner for the administrative office space.
