In Austin, it is set to open stores in August at 1300 E. 38th ½ St., 13945 Research Blvd. and 13764 Research Blvd. A September opening is scheduled for a store at 603 Louis Henna in Round Rock. The company will also operate a 21,000-sf central cleaning plant. Hangers also has a Houston store on its fall grand opening schedule.
The company, based in Raleigh, NC, says it uses an environmentally friendly process to clean clothing. Joseph DeSimone, University of North Carolina chemistry professor, developed the use of liquid carbon dioxide as an alternative to conventional dry cleaning methods.
Hangers' parent company is Micell Technologies, a research and development company, in Raleigh. The first Hangers store opened in Wilmington, NC, in February 1999.
