Of 53 landfills it operates on 24,183 acres of land, the Fort Lauderdale company reported as of Dec. 30 it owned 45 and a total of about 21,113 acres.
The company reports to H. Wayne Huizenga, Republic Services' chairman, who also serves as chairman of Boca Raton, FL-based Boca Resorts Inc., an owner-operator of luxury resorts; chairman of Fort Lauderdale-based Extended Stay America Inc., a developer-operator of extended stay lodging facilities; and owner of the Miami Dolphins professional football franchise and Pro Player Stadium.
The company reported a net income gain of $58.1 million, or 34 cents per share, on total revenue of $576 million for the three months ended June 30, compared with net of $59.2 million, or 34 cents per share, on revenue of $533 million for the same time period in 2000.
