Fresh News: Produce Firm Inks $3.9-Mil Deal

IRWINDALE, CA-Freshpoint of California takes 97,794 sf of space for five years at Los Angeles Regional Distribution Center. Complex is former home of Hughes Family Markets.

IRWINDALE, CA-A distributor of produce and other fresh food has signed a five-year, $3.9-million lease for 97,794 sf of warehouse space in Irwindale.

The tenant is Freshpoint of California, a unit of food conglomerate SYSCO Corp. Its new building is inside the 650,000-sf Los Angeles Regional Distribution Center, at 5305 Rivergrade Road.

Freshpoint will move from smaller quarters in the City of Commerce.The Irwindale facility was built by Hughes Family Markets in 1993,but Hughes was acquired by Ralphs Grocery Co. in 1997 and consolidated its operations elsewhere.
