"Reorganization is an inappropriate word," says Steve Bassett, previously senior vice president and regional leasing director and now regional director. Bassett is stepping into a newly created position that makes him responsible for overseeing all leasing and management throughout the region.
"There are no layoffs," Bassett emphasizes. "We used to run this office in a partnership with the two of us, the other being David Hadsell. Years ago, I ran the overall production and leasing, so it was a natural step to go back to that."
Hadsell, formerly senior vice president and regional manager, will take over another newly created position: business development director. "What we wanted was one person fully devoted to new business development," explains Bassett. "We want a one point of contact for our clients. David and I had been splitting the new business side and now he is fully devoted to it."
Bassett says he still expects to spend about half of his time on new business development. "This is our new business model. It doesn't even have anything to do with the economy. In reality, we are growing," he says. We have over a million square feet of new business this year. This is a positive way to move forward on new business." Bassett joined the company in 1995. Hadsell came aboard in 1988.
As part of the reorganization, Jeff Castleton was promoted to regional leasing director and Scott Hogy will assume the position of regional director of operations. Around the Denver metropolitan area, Jones Lang LaSalle leases and manages an office and industrial portfolio of approximately six million sf.
